Blaming VP for everything..

Recently, I came across the following article in federalidea:

Prabakaran Has Done To Tamils What No Dutugemunu Could Do

Let's examine his "Partial List", which I might is just what it is -Partial! I have provided my replies to his allegations. I wanted to put it as comments on their website, but I was afraid it might be taken down, like one of my other post was in that site!

1) The JR government in 1977 granted ALL the demands on language etc., that the previous Tamil organizations had asked for. But we could not profit from it, because by then we were under the gun of Prabakaran.

If I have my history right, in 1977, Vellupillai Pirabhakaran, did not posses such power. Well definelty not enough to force the Tamils from profitting from Jayawardene's so called grants. Until the 1980's VP, and every other Tamil "boy" was under the influence of politicians. Contrary to what happens now, back then the Tamil politicians dictated how and when Tamil "boys" should act. The "boys" were literally the puppets of the then politicians!

2) India came in and merged North and East, and provided an honourable framework. But we reengaged the whole thing and started another war. Prabakaran would have been annihilated by the IPKF if not for Premadasa.

Did the LTTE not sign the accord? Did the Tamils not welcome the IPKF? Did we, Tamils, not give a chance to what India was saying? So whose fault is that it all backfired? Rajiv Gandhi's because he was trying to ONLY further India's agenda, and cause havoc in it's neighboring states? Or is it VP's because he stood for an INDEPENDENT Tamil Eelam - A Tamil Eelam that is not a puppet of India? Or is it Premadasa's because he provided weapons to his very enemy to survive the politics in the South?

3) Further accommodation was possible under Premadasa. But we reengaged him and killed the 600 police who surrendered.

What accommodation? Premadasa was using LTTE just like other political parties are doing now. For every Sinhala leader who came into power since independence, it has always been about keeping his power intact. Never about solving anything. As for the 600 police who surrendered, what were they doing before surrendering? Not exactly preaching peace, were they?

4)Under Chandrika we had the far reaching constitutional proposals by Neelan Thiruchelvan, but we replied by assassinating him.

Are we talking about the same Chandrika who dissolved parliament in 2003, and called for new elections, after taking over three vital ministries because she was afraid of the LTTE's ISGA proposals? Bt the way, what armed group not serious about peace wastes time coming up with something like the ISGA proposals?? It's one thing to say we want peace, it's another to have it in writing and put it forth!

About Neelan Thiruchelvam, he was just another Tamil who colluded with Chandrika's Government while it killed and tortured Tamils. He is no different than Kathirgamar, and they both should be ashamed to be called human rights activists, as they both turned a blind eye while the party they were supporting, Chandrika's Government, went on a killing spree. The only true human rights activists, as far as I am concerned, are those three people who resigned from the Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission recently because they couldn't stomach what the government they were working for was doing.

5) Incredible concessions were made by the Ranil Wickremasinghe government with the Cease Fire agreement. But we used it to stock up arms, get ready for another war and made sure of such a war by preventing Ranil’s Victory.

Concessions he was unable to make, because his president wouldn't allow it? Concessions, the president was afraid he was going to make that she dissolved parliament? And LTTE didn't care who won, because the whole Chandrika-Ranil fiasco, illustrated just one point, and that is it doesn't matter who is in power, and how much they are willing to concede, there will always be somebody to make sure no concessions were made. That is what has been happening for the last 60 or so years!

The Truth about Sri Lanka is that, there will always be a leader in the Sinhala community who would come forth to make some concessions, but then like his predecessors, he would fall behind the way of the majority, and give only as little as possible - and that is only if there is such a strong demand! Hence, this is why Mahinda Rajapakshe was not preaching peace, he was solely voted into power by the Sinhala hardline majority.

The armed uprising had resulted in the Sri Lankan Government yielding on so many fronts to the Tamils, even though it's too little too late. It is only because of the war the whole world knows about us, and to some degree agrees there is an unresolved issue in Sri Lanka.
